James Gordon Bennet began the publication of the first review of financial news in the New York Herald in 1835. Newspaper editorials were originated by John Dillingham, an English journalist, and one of them got him into jail in 1645. Sometimes justly and sometimes unjustly, other editors have met a similar fate many times since. |
