Show Wanted--A Home-Town Laundry , A concensus of opinion among local business men is that Bingham lost, a valuable asset when the Royal Laundry closed its plant here last summer. Since that time all laundry work has been done out of town, with resultant slower service, and, according ac-cording to some folks, the work does not compare in quality to that which was done in the home town plant..; When the local laundry shut its doors hore, approximately 1 1 persons were out of employment, and tjjc payroll loss to Bingham amounted to about $125 per week." 1 he employes of the laundry were residents of Bingham, and tare compelled to move elsewhere td secure work. The above Mentioned payroll, while nothing stupendous, added to the town's business, as most of it was sipent right here. With business and economic condhionsnow considerably improved and on the upgrade, it is a popular opinion that the local laundry plant could operate at a profit. We would venture ven-ture a guess that it would receive better support than ever before, be-fore, for the reason that Binghamites now realize the advantage of having a home plant in operation. One of the first objectives of the newly-organized busi-nessmien's busi-nessmien's association here is to endeavor to have the Royal Laundry reopen its Bingham plant, and members of the association associa-tion have expressed themselves as desirous to lending full support sup-port to the enterprise. We believe that the Royal Laundry is a splendid concern, and will listen to the plea of the local business men. If they can be convinced that they will receive the unqualified Support of Bingham people, they will undoubtedly italic turkey." |
