Show Markham, Freeman to Be Cleared to Prevent Possible Spring Floods Cleaning out of the old dry creek channels in Markham and Freeman gulches, in order to guard against possible spring floods, was a subject of discussion at the meeting of the town board Wednesday night. It is believed by the councilmen that such precautionary measures are advisable at this time, and the work will be started by city crews in the near future. Outstanding bills amounting to $2,225 $1,475 for the sewer project, and $750 for town expenses were read and approved at the meeting. A general discussion of the sewer and water tunnel projects was held, and the local garbage disposal problem, prob-lem, referred to in another article on this page, was talked over by the board members. It was decided to present a claim to the Associated Gas company for damages to city sidewalks in last Saturday's explosion. |
