Show LOST FOR SEVEN DAYS DA IN i MOUNTAINS Horrible Sufferings ings of Mr and Mrs Ms Fred Wilcox Residents of Mona Sanpete County I Caught in a Raging Blizzard They Lost Their Way Lower Limbs of Both Are Frozen Special SP tb th The Herald I 9 9 MT 1 T If 1 T PLEASANT Nov 26 A story of horrible suffering In the deso 4 LU late mountains of Sanpete county was revealed when Fred Wilcox almost dead from cold and hunger found his way 4 into iilo Mountain View three miles east of here and reported that his wife out in a raging blizzard miles distant alone and 4 This was at daybreak this morning Since then the woman has 4 been found and while the lower limbs of both sufferers are frozen they 4 will survive their terrible exposure which lasted seven days das Mr and Mrs Fred are residents of Mona ilona On Nov 19 they 4 left to drive over oer the mountains to their home The second 4 day out they were caught In a blizzard bUzzard and lost but before any serious 4 harm hurm befell them the couple were overtaken by Peter Francis of Price 4 and put ut on the right road Francis told them to follow his tracks but the blizzard waged more fiercely and they soon were lost again in the mountains mounta ns i The he travelers rs started with only three days provisions The food ran I 4 out ut when they were apparently apparent no nearer their destination than at the 6 tart art On the fourth day to add to the horror of the situation the horses gave gave out and Mr and Mrs Wilcox were forced to continue I journey on foot Meanwhile there was no cessation in the storm and 4 both husband and wife were nearly maddened madden d with their torture On Ott the sixth day Mrs Wilcox fainted from exhaustion and her husband was compelled to seek aid ald alone Hopefully he tramped on leaving his wife under a clump of trees and after wandering all night arrived at Moun tain tam View at daylight dalIght this morning He was aas barely able to report the facts of his experience so weak was wag he from frome exposure A searching party was immediately formed and taking a box sled and tour jour horses within a few hours they came upon Mrs Irs Wilcox She was sitting on a rock on Tow Head mountain the highest peak In the Sanpete range with only a quilt around her In another couple of hours she would have been dead Mrs Wilcox was brought to Mt Pleasant i where she and her husband received rec I ed medical medica attention Both have their feet frozen but will recover A party will vilI leave tomorrow morning to search for the horses f t |
