Show FUNERAL OF JOHN BARTON Former Utah Resident Is laid to Rest With Impressive Cere Ceremonies Ceremonies Ceremonies monies Taber Sept 30 The funeral services oer over the body of John Barten whose death has been previously announced in The Herald were held today todi at 2 p m In the L D S meeting house The pulpit and archway were beautifully draped in white while the white casket was cov coy covered covered ered with delicate flowers Upon the lid of the casket were in inscribed inscribed inscribed scribed two plates one saying Our Father John Barton on the other At Rest Bishop R A Van Arman presided Beautiful and appropriate music under the direction of George Birch was ren dered The speakers were Elders S J Wing Thomas Hull B R McMullin Bishop R It A Van Arman and Rev J R It Monroe ull all of o whom spoke kindly kInd of the tho departed as to his honesty honest In business affairs and his integrity of f purpose He was a stanch member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Saints and was truly devoted to his family to his religion and to his fellowman The deceased was born years ago at Adlington Cheshire England At 19 9 years cars of ago age he was married to Miss Anna nna Wood at Portwood church Stock Stockport Stockport Stockport port England She died Nov 15 1882 1582 after having seven sev n children Those who survive her are Maroni Barton Mrs Sarah Hannah Booth Mrs Mary Wilson of Taber and Mrs Rachel Bachel Griffith of or Dla Wyo Vo He afterwards married Miss Emma Jane Grayson Grason in 1883 at Portwood church Stockport England and by his second marriage had six sons and two daughters John G David George Albert Joseph Josephi I Seymour Se mour Emma Jene Jane and Josephine all of whom Including his wife survive him He joined the Mormon church hurch in England and emigrated to Utah landing In Coal villa ilIa July Jul 8 s 1884 1883 He resided there until June ISO 1899 when he was called by President President President dent Snow to go to Alberta Canada to assist in making the Irrigation canal and to settle here with his family arriving at Cardston July 20 2 1 1899 and in November of the same year rear moved to Magrath where he resided until t the e spring of 1904 when he came to Taber with his family where he and his sons secured home borne homesteads homesteads I In Taber Tabor he was a member r of the he town council agent for the Massey Harri Im I company and the Enterprise rise Lumber company compan The Order of Odd Fellows of which the deceased was a member Joined the large cortege corteo of carriages which followed the remains to the cemetery where the final rites were observed the grave being ded dedicated dedicated dedicated by Bishop R A Van Arman |
