Show SUMMONS COMES QUICKLY Abraham Halladay Dies From Prom Heart Beart Disease While at Break Breakfast Breakfast fast Table Provo May 12 Abraham Halladay of the Second ward died suddenly this morn morning morning ing ng from troman an affection of ot the heart He was about to sit down to breakfast when whon It t was noticed that he was about to fall Members of the family came caine to his assist assistance assistance assistance ance immediately and placed him in a chair where he expired in a few minutes The deceased was born In Warwickshire England Aug 25 1824 and became a member of the Mormon church churchIn In n 1848 In lB 1849 he lie emigrated with his family to America and remained two years in Iowa coming to Utah in 1852 since which time he has resided in Provo He lie had led an active life engaging suc successfully uc in farming and stock raising raisIn and has been interested in m various busi business business business ness enterprises in this tills city He was one of the original stockholders In the Provo woolen mills and for several years ears represented the company compan as traveling salesman Mr Halladay Hallada also figured prominently and with credit in civil life tilling filling the offices of o deputy deput sheriff city councilman and other positions He was for many years ears a counselor in the bish bishopric bishopric bishopric of the Second ward and has held h ld other important church positions and filed a mission to his native land In the early SOs SOsHe SOsHe He was sincerely devoted to his roll reli religion gion honorable In his relations with hs fellow feHo men and uncompromising in his isis advocacy of any principle or project that appealed to his sense of right Mr Halladay had hod been boen ailing for some time from rheumatism heart weakness and other ailments but his great energy kept him from taking to his bed or even from remaining at rest in the house and he was at work practically up to the tho time of his death He leaves a wife teen children numerous grandchildren and other relatives B and a host of frIend friends to mourn his death Funeral services will be held Tuesday at the Second ward meeting house begin beginning beginning beginning ning at 2 Honora HOnori H Marie the daughter of ot Mr and Mrs J I E Gease died last evening from scarlet fever She was a beautiful bright lovable child chUd and great sympathy is felt for the parents and nd re lathes in their bereavement The burial L took place from the home this afternoon P Peter Piter ter Stubbs one of the oldest of this city and a prominent busi business business business ness man in th the early earl days da s who has suf from a protracted illness is report reported ed to be worse The funeral services over oer the remains of ot Mrs Elizabeth A held yes es in the Sixth ward meeting house were attended by b a large number of re ro lathes and friends The speakers were President David John Elder Eider Eld r S P Eg gertsen Mrs Electa Bullock patriarch L N C Murdock o of oc Charleston and Elder Brigham B Johnson who all spoke word I of o ot f consolation and In commendation of ol ow the he t many man virtues of the deceased The Thc j ward w ard choir rendered appropriate vocal oeal voca I selections elections s and Miss Florence Jepperson I rendered r a beautiful solo A celebration of the seventeenth anni anniversary ersary v of the Epworth league will take t k S She the he t place of the regular Sunday opening services s at the Methodist church tomor tomorrow tomorrow row r ow evening A special nil wil I Ie be b e rendered consisting of recitations a t taper paper p aper a a short address solos quotations quotation 5 and a nd splendid chorus singing Nearly pupils of the county schools school 3 I have hae h ave passed examinations for gradus tion ion t Superintendent Eggertsen states 3 that hat t many of them received credits of 1 I Ier per p er cent centA centA centA A marriage license has been issued to t George G eorge Pennington Stevenson aged 20 and a nd Anna Crandall aged IS 18 both of or o r Springville S I Charles Evans and Joseph L Argyle Argle i have h ave commenced suit against t Joshua Joshus I Hone to collect 32 for the failure on the S Sart part p art of defendant to comply with a con tract t In regard to rental r of land and am I stock tock s Plaintiffs also ask for 1200 dam damages damages damages ages I |
