Show WANTS A LIBRARY For This Purpose They w Will l Hold a Fair During the Present Week Mercur March lL H I A of the Saints church Mercur will give a faIr in hall hail on Ob Tuesday and Wednesday of this week for the pur purpose purpose pose of raIsIng funds to start a library The booths presided over DY Mercurs young ladles ladies will open for business on Tuesday at 10 The Mercur brass band wIll be in attendance all day Tues I day dayAs As a result of the hot contest for the selection of a queen great interest cen centers centers In the ceremony of crowning Miss Jessie Hall the successful candidate at 73 on Tuesday evening Con W Evers mayor Of Mercur will officiate at this ceremony placing the crown upon th the fair queen and agreeing to share wIth her the honors of hIs position for two days The queen sitting in royal state upon the throne surrounded with her maids of honor and servants of the court will dis dispense dispense pense favors to her subjects with alIb eral hand han the crowd Is inspecting the vari various van vanous ous booths presided over by different Mercur young ladles the brass band will enliven the day with a fine musical Following the crownIng Df f the queen Tuesday evening a tine fine of music and recitations will be given givenA A feature of Tuesday afternoon will be bea a baby show a liberal prize being offered for the finest bab baby During Wednesday morning and after neon the booths will remain open and the committees will award liberal prizes for or the best work In varIous lines of sew sewing sewing ing The fair closes Wednesday evening with witha a grand ball ballA ballA A very pleasant surprise was given In Inthe inthe the Methodist church in honor of the choir leader Mrs Better Retter on last Thurs Thursday Thursday day evening The lady was asked to come cometo cometo to the church to assist In preparing some special music but on arriving found the full choir there to welcome her to a special specia cia cial prepared in her honor at atthe atthe the close of which the pastor In behalf of the choir presented the guest of honor with a beautiful cutglass bowl Joseph Peck a lad about 10 years old was thrown last Saturday from the back backof of a pony with such force as to render him insensible for about one hour He was carried by bJ J L Craft to the office of Dr L G Thayer where the application of artificial and other restora restoratives tives brought him around aU all right No bones were found broken |
