conventions conventions held In years ears the of Og Ogden Ogden Ogden den yesterday nominated the men who will be their standard bearers In the pend pending pendIng pending ing campaign cam Without exception the candidates were chosen by b acclamation The convention was unusual In many man ways There were no factions and made for tOr the har harmony harmony harmony mony that prevailed Long Conroy Conroy roy the present city executive addressed the gathering The attendance was fairly large at both sessions there being good sized present from each precinct The I delegates acted like a lot Democrats of Ogden City In convention assembled affirm our faith in inthe inthe inthe the wisdom and efficacy of Democratic principles as applied to municipal gov government government and we offer as our nominees for the various arlous municipal offices of Og den City Honest successful business men all Democrats possessing the business qualifications qualifications necessary to solve the business problems now confronting this city and its Inhabitants as as result of ot Republican mismanagement We believe and affirm that the reasons which actuate a business man in the se lection le of his namely due con consideration consideration of ot their honesty business ex experience experience and skill and the possession of a awill awill awill will and conscientious desire to advance his interests should move the citizen In the choice of ot public servants Weibe We be lieve In the economical expenditure of the public funds within the law and are em emphatically emphatically granted special privileges in the conduct of businesses which are detrimental to the better life of the city Certain laws have been openly openlY open y violated Such laws so long tong as they exist east ex st as ordinance or statute should be enforced and to that end we pledge our candidates We believe that our candidates are es especially especiallY especially qualified to 00 conduct the busi Brewer Warm Favorite The next order of business was the nominations C J Humphries candi date for council from the Second ward placed Alexander Brewer in nomination for mayor As soon as the announcement was made a loud cheer went up and the nomination was made by b acclamation and anda a committee was started out to find the nominee When hen Mr Brewer entered the convention hall it was fully five the minutes before order could be restored In a brief address Mr Brewer stated that If It elected he would aim to retrench and assist in getting the city elt out of debt In handling the city money he said he would be as careful as If It he was expending his own funds He Impressed It upon his hearers that he had not sought the nomination and I had stayed away from the convention pur purposely purposely in order that any anyone one else more desirable might be selected He said that he would if elected go Into office with without without I out being tied to any clique and that he had not now nor would he make prom laes of any kind The other candidates were nominated in regular order It was expected that there would be contests for tor the tho city and for tor the recorder ship but when these places were reached no opposition developed and the nomina went through by acclamation Chairman Chez Speaks There were more than delegates present when City Chairman H II W V Guilliam called the convention to order shortly after acter 2 Without any pre remarks Mr Gwilliam intro Attorney Joseph Chez as the tem temporary temporary chairman Amid prolonged cheer ing Mr Chez took his place His remarks which were wholly who II to the point were de livered in about ten t n minutes Frequent ly he was interrupted by b applause es especially especially when he used the quotation I Iam
