morning The two nominees for state senator are the Kearns slate Joseph Lippman and Ben B Heywood his lieutenants of old engineered it for him and the was able to put the slate through without difficulty difficulty difficulty culty The principal feature of the convention was J T Lavery who is isnow isnow isnow now awaiting trial in the district court for embezzlement Lavery is out outon outon outon on bail and consequently was able to take part in the convention A week ago he was denouncing the capitalistic American party Yes Yesterday Yesterday he was loudly trying to deliver to it the labor vote The exact cause of his sudden reversal is being kept I ept a secret by the custodians of the American campaign fund fundA fundA A deal was made by American party bosses Friday evening where whereby whereby whereby by certain men who claimed to be able to control the labor unions and the labor vote agreed to head off putting a labor ticket in the field and to deliver the labor vote conspicuous u ous throughout the proceedings When the legislative nominations were made he delivered a noisy speech in which he endorsed the labor can candidates candidates candidates placed before the convention and bespoke the labor vote There are many labor men however who refused to be delivered by a man under charges of embezzling from his fellows Lavery was arrested May 28 last for taking funds belonging to the Bridge and Structural Iron Workers union He Ht was held to the district court and andis andis andIs is now awaiting trial disowned by his h is union the rank and file of which
