Show In New York the old question whether lager beer is intoxicating is again absorbing the attention ot the courts in connection with the Sunday law. This, the Fast thinks, is playing play-ing with the laws. If the Sunday law is unjuit let it be repealed. So long as it is a law it ought to be executed rigidly and impartially. To make an exception in favor of the German by permitting him to buy and drink his beer is to do wrong to the Englishman who is denied his ale, the Frenchman who mu-t go i without his wine, the Irishmac or Scotchman who is deprived of his whisky, and the Ameiican whose catholic taste offers a common hospitality hos-pitality to all these beverages. |
