Show The Hellenle Explosion. New York, 25. At Hallet's point this morning the only traces to be seen ef tbe great coffer dam are what were a few lragments of the former afloat in tbe water. General Newton arrived about a quarter before 11 and in company with B. F. Boyle, overseer over-seer o the late works, inspected the scene ot the explosion with evident satisfaction. In answer to a question as to the success of the blast, he declared de-clared it was a thorough explosion. There are $'223,100 now available for the prosecution of further work at Hellgate. A large part of this will be required this year tor the removal of the rocks blown up yesterday, and it is probable that several years will pass More the beginning of operations at Flood rock. |
