Show Twenty-eight democrats voted again Bt and twenty-six republicans in fnvor of the resumption repeal bill. The diDerent states wore represented as follows in their Votes outside of party lines: Democrats againBt the bill California, 1; Connecticut, 2; Illinois, 1; Louisiana, 1; Maryland, 1; Massachusetts, 1; Michigun, 1; New Hampshire, 1; New Jersey, 4; New Tork, 13; Pennsylvania, 1; Texas, 1; total, 28. Republicans fer the bill: Illinois, 5; Indiana, 5; Iowa, 2; Kansas, Kan-sas, 8; North Carolina, 1; Ohio, 3; Pennsylvania, 6; Wisconsin, 1; total, 26. It will thus be seen that the place of a man's residence accounts for some of hii ideas, politioal and financial. With few exceptions the democratic representatives of the eastern and middle states united with republicans in opposing the bill, while the republicans of the west, generally, with the exception of the gold states ef the Pacific, were im favor of the repeal. |
