Show Maulac Murderer. Youngatown, Ohio, 27. Charles M. Sterling, sentenced to be hung tomorrow to-morrow for the murder two yearB ago of a young German girl named Lizzie Grumbacher, was yeoterday respited by Governor Young till tho 21st ol April next. The mystery which has surrounded the accused was to-day intensified by parlies who claim te be his mother and brother from Maxwell, Max-well, Ontario, arriving in town and visiting him in jail. He has, since his second trial commenced, claimed that hi parents resided there and gave tho names of ditlerent members of his family. To-day, when his supposed sup-posed mother was taken in his presence, pres-ence, she pressed forward to embrace him wlin hp hold I v rlrnw hflplr sav ing she was not his mother; he never knew her; had never seen her: had never been in Maxwell; that his name was not Charles M. Sterling; that he was once intimate with the real Charles M. Sterling, and had assumed his name. Mrs. Sterliug is positive this is her son, though he left home seven years ago. The mother tried to mention incidents that would make him remember her, aud besought be-sought him not to add this to the crime of which he is accused, and with tears and sobs implored one look of recognition, but all to no purpose. |
