The full decision of the United States supremo court delivered by tue chief justice in the case of. the Chicago, Burlington & tuincy railroad against tho attorney gtfuoral of Iowa, makes very clear tiitso pointa, viz: The road was buiit under tho general railroad law of Iowa, which reserves to the legislature the power to regul-:e its tariffs; that the cempauy might as a condition previous to the building of the road havodemanded of the legislature to fix permanently the limits of its interference, interfer-ence, and if the demand, had been conceded thii wouid have constituted a contract against further interference, interfer-ence, but as tho company lailed to obtain such legislative contract it must abide bv the terms of the law. which aro not invalidated because not averted earlier, and are biudmg upon '.he present owners of stock and bonded creditors as upon tho original I company. |
