Show GRAND TABERNACLE JUBILEE. Scvor.il Thousand Sunday St'liool Children Assembled. An Entertainment Reflecting Credit on All Kngagctl in It. 'The Pioneers' day could not be more appropriately celebrated than it 'was by the grand Sunday fc'ctiool 'jubilee at the Uhernacle on the 24th. The great building had been magnificently mag-nificently decorated with one of the fluent floral displays ef: wilmwed in America. The whole uuhiu ol the building was festooned with wreathB ol flowers intertwined with wvergreeus, aud artistically arranged, ahile the space around the galleries wus tastefully taste-fully ortiamentL-d witu fttuons aud hanging flower basket. Many hundreds hun-dreds ol fair banda must have been engaged for weeks iu preparing the materials for this great display, and a finer tribute could scarcely be piutl to tbe memories of the htroea and heroiues of the day celebrated. Tbe body uf the tabernacle was reserved re-served for the Sunday schools, aud was pretty well filled with the neatly dressed, happy children, who seemed to enjoy the grand scene and their own part iu the exercises of the day. Tbe galleries were occupied by spectators spec-tators aud appeared to be crowded, the character of the audience showing show-ing a general interest iu the exercises The programme, which consisted principally ot songs by the children, was diversified by music by the 10th ward band, organ solos, recitations aud an address by President Brigham Young. During the exercises lem- , ouade and buns were treely distrib- uted among the chiklrto, 12,000 of the latter beiug rt quired to satisfy all. i It was the remark ot good judged that the children performed their paris adurrabiy, showing careful training and attention by their beachers. Very much of tbe success ot the entertainment is due to the thorough drilling which the leuders of the ward cheira had given the pupils for the last few weeka. Everybody Every-body seemed to be pltuetd with the naturalness and a wectnt-ss of the music. President Youug's addrtsa wus an answer to the question "Why are we here ?" He reviewed comprehensively comprehen-sively the history of the Latter day ; Saints aud their wanderings from the j time when Joseph Smith discovered the Book of Mormon to the day, just thirty years ago, when the Bpeaker with the first company of Utah pil- grims pasted tnrough Emigration Ciilm aud pitched their tents iu this city. They were now ! the ha pt aud best people ou earth, 'and had realized many of their anticipations an-ticipations by coming to this part of the country. In conclusion Presidtnt I young gave the children some good advice on the basis of the command-Imeut: command-Imeut: Serve Gud aud honor your ! parents.
