Show Dr. Cuksery, of Boston, publishes the following remedy for diptheria. It is by hyposulphite of .nda. He mivh it is a siiro remedy; Unit he mes it in bin practice, :md l'iw euml more th.in ISO cuys We an told: "A rinse of the hypngulphitn is from five to fifteen grains or more in syrup every two or three hour, ac-coniing ac-coniing to tho ugo and circumstances circum-stances of the patient. Purging is the only evil whinh an overdose can produce, hence as much as the patient can bear without producing pro-ducing that result is a good rule in the severer cases. The solution or mixture can be used in doses of five drops to half a drachm in milk. For thorough stimulation tbe amount is greater than can be taken in water. Dr. Chenery usually gives the specific in such doses as can be readily taken in milk, using milk besides as food for small children. It is said, however, how-ever, that hyposulphite prevents tho digestion of milk, and therefore I should not be giion in leas than one hour after administering tho medicine." |
