Show English Opera. Notwithstanding the eflorta of our morning contemporary to dstraot from the merits of Mr. Hess' English opera company, and keep people away from the theatre, thai building waa well filled again last evening, and judging from the demonstrations of the cultured audience tluy were highly entertained with the grand performance. Thero was frequent applause during the presentation of "Martha," and all of the ladies and gentlemen who sang in the operatic concert were encored. Tbe Buccess of the company iu S.tlt Lake has induced Mr. Hess to remain re-main ever to day, giving two entertainments enter-tainments this afternoon and evening. even-ing. At the matinee "Lucia di Lam-merniDor" Lam-merniDor" will he performed, and in addition to the excellent cast ot Thursday evening, the distinguished American prima donna, Miss Marie Stone will make her first appearance here. In the evening there will be a grnnd programme, consisting of the fourth act of "Rigo- letto," a concert of operatic gems and favorite ballads, and the last act of the "Bohemian Girl," cast to the full strength of the company. The prices for tbe occasion have been reduced and there will be no extra charge for reserved seats. We expect to see the house crowded iu tbe afternoon and evening. |
