Show Tho Steamer, "City ol Sail fr'ruucisco." San Francisco, 15. The China, from Panama, brings the news that the wrecked steamer Cily of San Francisco haB not been broken up by the action of tbe sea and that a schooner lead of merchandise has boea saved and brought to Acapulco. The wreck is in exactly tbe position described by witnesses in then testimony testi-mony before the court of inquiry. All that part of the ship forward of the mainmast above the water smoke stack is still standing. The steamer Moses Taylor, moored at Acapulco as the receiving ship, will receive the merchandise saved from the wreck. Captain Nolan of the China is . commissioned com-missioned to return immediately to the scene of the wreck and remain there to save whatever could bo saved of the cargo and generally to protect the interests ol the company. He returned on tbe Constitution to-day. Nothing haB been taken directly from the suuken ship, but the merchandise constituting the cargo taken to Acapulco Aca-pulco was lound floating or picked up on the beach. |
