Show The Postal Frnnds. Washington, 10. Warrants have been issued for the arrest ot Jas. Van Vleck.late clerk of the sixth auditor's office, and F. L. Channel, clerk iu the contract office, implicated iu the postal frauds recently discovered. Van Vleck was yesterday removed by order of the secretary of the treasury. The order for Channel's removal has not yet been issued by the postotfice department. Colt and Floyd, who confessed a participation in the frauds, are held as witnesses against these persons, who persisted in denying deny-ing their guilt. Warrants for the arrest ar-rest of Van Vleck and Channel are based on affidavits of Special Howard, charging them with conspiracy in bribery and accepting bribes. The penalty prescribed is a fine and imprisonment im-prisonment not exceeding three yews. The postmaster general has issued an order that no employes ol the department shall exhibit any record or paper ol the department to or hold communication during office hours with any contractor or agent of j any contractor except upon the order of the postmaster general, assistant postmaster general, chief clerk or I chiefs of division. |
