Twenty-five Twenty-five commercial travelers, representing represent-ing business houses in St. Louis, Louisville and Memphis, have for-wardid for-wardid a statement to congress denying deny-ing the despatoh of Gen. Sheridan to the secretary ol war, in so far as.it re-lera re-lera to terrorism in Arkansas. Gov. Garland transmitted to the legislature a special ; message, in which he recommends that if the laws are not already sufficient that additional measures he at once enacted en-acted to punish all persons, of whatever what-ever class, guilty of the charges preferred pre-ferred in the papers forwarded to the president by l'J5 Union soldiers. Toe message thus closes: "VVe want- no man in tho state to be afraid or to carry his lite in his hand, but all must he free and unembarrassed, that they may remain long in the land, do well and prosper." |
