Show An Improved Ore Stamp. J. J. Wait, of Oreana, says the Winnemuoca Silver Slate, has invented in-vented a new ore stamp, of which he has applied for a patent. The improvements im-provements consist of a hollow stamp stem, in combination with a juide rod, making the construction of tbe stamp cheaper and tbe stamp less liable to get out of order than those now io use in quartz crushing batter ies. The inventor aUo claims that tbe stamp can be run with less power than tbe old Btamp, and that any of the stamps in the battery can be taken out and repaired without interfering inter-fering with the others. The tappets are bo constructed that it is impossible impos-sible for tbetn to Blip. The wooden guides, which mill men have long regarded re-garded as a nuisance, are dispensed with altogether, and only one bolt has to be removed to take out a stamp tern. A model of a battery with the new stamps is being exhibited there by tbe inventor. It is a very ingenious ingen-ious piece of meohanism, and mill men who have examined it pronounce pro-nounce it far supperior to the stamp now in use. |
