Show Tho Louisiana Investigation, New Orleans, 28. The congressional congres-sional committee to-day examined Lieutenant Derudie, of the cavalry, stationed at St. Martinsville last October. Oc-tober. While going for United States marshals to make arrests he was saluted by cheera lor the white league. The colored people told him the whites had taken their firearms from them. After making some arrests they proceeded pro-ceeded to St. Martinsville, and while crossing a field saw a squad of men whom they were told were whito leaguers. Witneti gave numerous instances of abinte and intimidation of negroes by whites. At Ne Iberia after election, he hw a band of 300 mounted men who gave three cheers for the white league. t |
