Show Tbe Fire Record. Cairo, 2. A fire at Mound City, this afternoon, destroyed over one-third one-third of tbe town. A telegram was received here at 3 o'olock this afternoon, after-noon, asking assistance, and in response three fire engines were promptly dispatched by the railroad. The fire bad gained too great a headway head-way for the fire department to accomplish ac-complish anything more than prevent its spread. From sixty to eighty houses were burned, among which are the Court Houee with all the records. Rio Janeiro, Oct. 15. Great bush fires are raging in the Province of Minas Geraes. Siity seven persons haae perished. Indianapolis, 2. Spiker & Hamlon's factory at Logansport, Ind., waB destroyed by fire last night. Loss, $10,000; insurance $16,000. Fifty men are thrown out of employment. employ-ment. Bridgeton, Me., 2. A block of fine buildings on Main street burned last night. Several citizens were injured. Loss, $26,000. Chioftgo, 2. The furniture factory of A. H. Andrews & Co., located at 156 Mather street, burned at an early jhour this morning. Loss, $60,000. The insuranco could not be ascertained ascer-tained lo-day. San Francisco, 3. In afire at the corner of Pacific and Dvis streets, lat night, Mrs. Robert Graves was burned to death. Her husband was also fatally burned. |
