'these provisions pro-visions gave to ali states that might herealter be created tho power i u regulate fares and freights cf any railroads previously construct-il construct-il within their boundaries, together with authority over lhe right of way. As recommended for passage the bill grants the rignt of way over all public pub-lic lands to v .y railroad companies that may incorporated under tho local laws of tho respective tt tes or territories. The provi-ions as to condemnation con-demnation of lands, etc. remain the same as in the house bill being subject sub-ject to the terms contained in the Pacific railroad act of 1806, or to such other regulations as tho local authorities authori-ties may prescribe. The bill thus agreed upon is substantially the measure originated by McCormick, of Arizona, and favored by all the other delegates. |
