The president and secretary of the company authoritatively deny any such offer, and Mr. George Crump, British coobuI at tbie port, knows nothing of it. It is also asserted that the new steamer, State of Catiornia, to be launched at Cramp's ship yard, on Tl:urday, was to be purchased, but neither the Mesers. Cramp or Gilfroy & Perkins, her owners, have been approached up to this date upon th9 eubject. She will be used in the Hong Kong and Yokohama trade on the Pacific. |
