The sub-committee of the ways and means a mmittee of the house met to-dny at the Fifth Avence hotel and decided to continue the Pacific Mail investigation on Monday. King Kalaktuia held a reception at Windsor hotel to-day, at which were present Major-General Hancock and staff, members of the army and navy club, resident consuls and' members of the board of trade. An address was presented by the latter body, in which the board stated they view with great interest the announcement of negotiations for a commercial treaty between the Sandwich Islands and this country, King Kalakaua stated he would seud a suitable reply in a few days.
