Show A Jewelry Suit. 1 New York, 12 Cnarles Dean, has brought suit against Mrs. Theresa Bell, represented to be the wife ol Thomas Ball, of Sin Francisco, in tho Supreme court, King's county, for $5,000 salary alleged to be due. The complaint alleges that in January, '78, thedefendant employed the plaintiff at San Francisco to tzx?i with her as an escort. One of his duties was to carry on his person a quarter of a million dollars worth of jewelry, the defendant refusing to deposit it in a place of safety, but making the plaintiff carry it, aod insisting that he should be armed to guard against robbery. The plaintiff alleges that at the end of six mouths, in Paris, be was discharged without compensation. The judge granted an order, and some of Mrs. Bell's properly at tbe Hoflman house in this city, where the lady is residing, has been attached. It in reported that when Mrs. Bell arrived Irom Europe recently her jewelry waa seized by the customs officers, but waa subsequently released. |
