Last night the coach driver from the north repoitsd that on his trip north from here on Friday night, he was Btopped at the Platte river ford, about a mile distant from this post, by five marked meo who took from the coaoh two prisoners, ManB&eld and McLaughlin, and bung them on a large cotton wood tree on tho river bank. These men were charged with roud asency aud bad been in custody in Cheyenne and were enrou'e fbrDaadwood undfr tlw guard of Jim May and Jesse Brown, whom the lynchers competed to tiive up their arms and am render their prisoners. At daylight thie morning F. L. Greene, deputy coroner, rode to the scone and found the bodies still there, one hanging and the other on the ground. They were brought here and a coroner's jury empanelled. |
