Show Death ol General Dlx New York, 21. General Jnhn A. Dix died to-night at 11.30 o'clock. Tbe funeral ol Gen. Dix takes place on Thursday at Trinity Church. Tho remains will be placed, temporarily, in Ihe family vault, Trinity churchyard. church-yard. Washington, 22. The preeideut, in a proclamation, haeannouueed tbe death of General Dix, and commends to tbe attention of the people ol tbe country the great public services through tbe long and eventful life of this eminent citizen, and tbe patriotic record of hia military services, both in his early youth and advanced age. Appropriate honors will be paid to his memory undtr the direction of the war department and of the treasury treas-ury department, of which he was, at au important period, the bead, and it is recommended to bis fellow citizens citi-zens to participate in a general token of respect to his worth as a private citizen, and to his eminent services as senator of the UniteJ States, minister to France, and governor of tbe state of New York.
