Show President Grnut m VI uliing-I uliing-I o ii A Cabinet Meeting. Washington, 14. The president arrived tbis morning, and a regular cabinet session was held at noon. There were present Secretaries Bris-kiw Bris-kiw and Belknap, Attorney General Pierrepont, i'ostmaster General Jewell, Jew-ell, Assistant Secretary Cadwalder, who represented the state department, and Assistant Secretary Cowan, of the interior deparlment. The cabinet was in session over two hours, and a large amount of routine business was considered. There was tome conversation upon tbe subject of the appointment of a secretary of the interior, but the cabinet officers slate that no appointment appoint-ment will be made until next week. It is the general impression that the president is waiting for a response from a gentleman to whom the oiler of the appointment has been made. The attorney general stated that he is in ronclnl ,if infni-n.ftlinn luliiMi 1, deems authentic, to the effect that both parties in Mississippi have agreed to terms which will prevent further troubles in that state, and a peacabie election- is confidently anticipated. |
