Show a The Hoskins-DarreU Combination r The theatre last night was attended i j by a fashionable and appreciative a;;di- ence. George Darreil's three act . drama "The Trump Card," with the auther as Richard Heathcote, Mis :ColviUe as Kate Neville, and Mr. , (William Hckins as Professor O.i'Ay-ford O.i'Ay-ford proved a genuine success. The ! drama abound in very effective and jStriking situations, and the artists I engaged represented their parts with marked ability. Mr. Goorce Darreil .impersonated a variety of characters I with unuual success, whilst his sing-I sing-I iug was received with very strong ex- jprestiens of approval, each' song eliciting rounds of applause. 'Mr. jHoskins played tho Professor as n j actor like him only could do, bring-ing bring-ing out the strong points of tbe pa-t : with artistic skill. Miss Colville was j ladylike and effective. The "stars" I were twice called before the curtain to secure the unanimous marks of approval expressed by the audience The drama was excellently mounted, (and the stock company rendered effi-jcient effi-jcient support. It will b? repeated 'to-night for the last time, ar.d we ad-I ad-I vise our dramatic patrons not to miss jthe treat offered them. In the aftor- piece Miss Fanny Cathcart, who was 1 warmly welcomed on making her appearance, ap-pearance, fairly delighted he audience by tho charming and piquant manner in which she played Maggie Macfar-lane. Macfar-lane. The piece went from first to last with great spirit and roars of i laughter accompanied the dialogue. Messrs. Margetts, Thorne and Wilton Wil-ton rendered excellent support. To-morrow night a new romantic (four act play by George Darreil, entitled en-titled "Faith and Fidelity" will be presented with the "combination" in the cast. The draniR is an excellent ne, and will be produced with every ! oare and regard for efiect. |
