Loring called the convention to ordr, and was elected temporary chairman. Henry L. The nomination was made unanimous. Tno committee on resolutions re-portid re-portid a preamble reaffirming devotion devo-tion to the great pnmiples of the Republican party and resolutions, the first of which declares that a sound currency is iudipensoble to the national na-tional prosperity and to this end the nation must make its demund pro mises to pay exual to geld, which is the recognized standard of value over the whole civilized world, and that further it is the duty of Congress to adopt suchpineasures as sh ill lead to this realization of value; and that no inflation of currency by adding to the govern men t Usues shall be permitted, permit-ted, : The second resolution denounces the outrages upon the blacks in the South, demands the completo protection protec-tion of all citizens in their rights and thanks President Grant for his prompt action to suppress the troubles in tha South. The third demands an honest eco-1 nomical administration in all govern-' mental departments, national, State and municipal. The fourth declares the record of the Republican party of Massachusetts Massachu-setts a sufficient guarantee of its continued con-tinued sympathy with legislation which will promote the interest of -.the laboring and industrial cUv-ses. The fifth declares that the Republican Repub-lican party has proved itself the party of progress and reform, and asserts its ability ahd willingness to correct all abuses within itself. The sixth commends the candidates candi-dates to the support of tho people.
