Show AMERICAN FORK AND BING- HAM. . The Mines in those Districts. Editors Herald; AME2UCAX FORK DISTRICT. The Queen of the West shows itself at present the queen of the mines in American Fork. They takeout good ore in considerable quantities, and ship daily from ten to fifteen tons to Sandy. It is the intention to work this mine all winter. The Miller mine employs twenty men, but no ore is being "taken out. They struck a little ore at the foot of the Mormon tunnel recentlv, a small streak in Hagan'a incline, and a little m the Wyominc. I Maj. Jb'pply last Spring made a slight mistake in bis calculations by telegraphing to New York that he had 1,700 tons of ore on the dump, which showed itself, in the yard at the Sultana Smelter, to be only 340 tons, 100 tons of which were old stock at the Wyoming. Some of the ore assayed only $.-) per ton. The Pittsburg mine has been closed , up for the winter. The Rossler mine is being worked lively by Dr. W. Bredemeyer's men. La Belle Meavoq is yielding ore which assays trom 150 to S50 ounces in silver and 54 per cent. lead. This I mine is also worked by Dr.W. Bredemeyer's Brede-meyer's men. The Bredemeyer No. 2 has the same kind of ore as the Queen of the West and the Bredemeyer lode. I The American Fork railroad is shipping timber, lumber, Queen of tho West ore and charcoal. BtXQHAM caSox. The Jordan and Galena mine ships from 40 to 60 tons per day. Tne Neptune and Xempton ships from 40 to 45 tons per day ot first class ore. They commenced the third level on the 1st of October, and are sinking continually. The Neptune Nep-tune and Kempton mines are in the very best condition as . regards ore and working. The Spanish Hill is working twenty men, and ships Ironi 150 to 2u0 tons per week. The Nez Perces Chief and No iou Don't shipped in August 900 tons, and paid 2 per cent, dividends; the same in September and are constantly con-stantly improving. The Utah is closed up. Prof. Clayton Clay-ton and Henry Sewell were there making examinations on the oth of October, and may possibly start it up again. Tne Winamuck is continuing steady at work, under the management manage-ment of Pinedo as manager, and Wottenweiler as superintendent. Bingham Canon throughout looks lively, and there is every prospect that it will keep so during the winter. B. |
