Show I ha BeidiDg Beating Case. Yesterday morning tho examination examina-tion of ehief-of-polico Burt, Sheriff Taylor and Mr. N. V. Jones, on the charge of assaulting and beating Mr. BcUling, with intent to commit murder, mur-der, was opened bo tore Commissioner Toohy. It will be remembered that Bekhng, who was acting as special deputy C S. Marshal, is one of the gentleman who was beat in tho melee at the City Hall when the police wero clearing the passage way to the. polls on the od instant. District Attorney Carey and Judge McBrido appeared for the prosecution and .Messrs. Sutherland and Snow for the defense. At the outset of the proceedings the defendants' attorneys moved that the warrant on which the accused were held should tc quashed on the ground tuat it charged two offenses, one against the United States the other against the laws of the-Territory. , The motion was granted, but the defendants de-fendants were immediately re-arrested on separate warrants and the examination exami-nation proceeded.
