Show ; Theatre. A brilliant audience witnessed the performance of "Jack Sheppard" last night. This historical sensational sensation-al drama was well put on the stage, and its representation would have been creditable to metropoliton boards. Mr. Chaplin as Jonathan Wild, and Miss Jean Clara Waltera as Jack Sheppard, make a pair of villains hard to beat. The play is full ot thrilline incidents, well adapted to their style and talents. Mr. P. Mar-gctts, Mar-gctts, who appeared as Blueskin, maintained his reputation as a good character actor. Mr. Thorne, a Owen Wood, did the old merchant full justice, and Messrs. Mcintosh, Bowring and Wilton, rendered excellent ex-cellent support. -Mr. John Hardie, (first appearance) performed the part of Sir Rowland Trenchard, in a manner man-ner which showed that .there is something some-thing in him. Mrs. Belle Douglas and Miss Dellie Clawson appeared to good advantage. On the whole "Jack Sheppard" was a decided success, suc-cess, and we think all who saw it laet night would be glad to have it repeated under equally favorable auspices. |
