Show It is gravely suggested in the Pittsburg Pitts-burg newspapers aa a means of completing com-pleting the Washington national monument that the remains of George Washington shall be removed to Philadelphia upon the occasion of of the Centennial, and he exhibited to tho crowd at so much per head, the proceeds to be devoted to the completion of the monument. In support of this novel plan, its author writes: What creator honor could bo bestowed on tno memory of Washington than to havohim with m in our club ration of lho Centennial ? Although beautiful in cleitth, perhaps his spirit will bo with us. I know it will if such things are permitted permit-ted from abrve. There is nothing to prevent us from having hii body tbore. A. Buitablo buildinj; could bo orected for lho purpose. A contribution can bo1 taken from all who enter, for the purposo of completing the Washington Wash-ington monument, and will prevent pre-vent lho samo partim from crowding the hall too often. It was at the tomb of Lincoln I thought of all this. Ilis body is perfect in preservation, and in a beautiful beau-tiful sarcophagus, which eould be removed and placed by tha side of Washington, and the peoplo of the United States could then mo their two crealest benefactor-', one the father oi' liii country, the other the father of freedom iu bi country. I oiler ibis for tho respectful consideration ol every citiznn of tho United State?, and hope it will meet universal approval. |
