Show FOREIGN. Castelnr's Coup d'Elat. Madrid, 3. In the Cortes, to-day, deputies on two votes gave a majority , of 120 against President Castelar. General Pavia, who is a friend to Castelar, thereupon occupied the palace of the eortes and other public buildings, with fourteen thousand troops, dissolved the cortes and summoned sum-moned the most eminent of all parties, par-ties, in eluding members of the present government. This, General Pavia declared, was the only way for salvation salva-tion for the country. He refused, personally, per-sonally, to become a member of the government. The streets are filled with people, and there is great excitement, excite-ment, but no blood has been shed. |
