Show Neglected Foreigners. Salt Lake City, July SO, 1871. EJHors lla-ald: Since coming to town 1 have heard that assertions have been frequently made here that no Scandinavian has fver "Wen appointed to oftico in I UlCand some gentlemen arc trying to make political and religious capital out of the supposed tact. 1 am not; well posted in the history of our Ter-rLtorv, Ter-rLtorv, but I know that in 1SG4 Mr. Andersen represented Sanpete county in the Legislature and that Mr. C. A. Madscu was then a Notary Public, and that now J. P. Christensen is a Notary Public, and, also, that Canute Petersen will Ihj the choice uf the people for Representative from Sanpete San-pete on Monday next. Us imported Americans do not, generally, hanker alter politic positions posi-tions o much as Dftivo Americana, and, consequently, do not get into the fiont row; hence, perhaps, the cause ot our getting so few preferments prefer-ments in that line. II Scandinavian, English, Scotch or other ibrcign-bom citi.ens want glory and renown, of course they will have to work for it aa eagerly as'the 'cute Yankee. I, pcr-Eouallv, pcr-Eouallv, don't hanker alter it. 1 ' COW COCXTT, |
