Terry, commanding the department of DakoLi, shows that the total force in that department consists of 224 officers, offi-cers, 3,-123 enlisted men, and 62 Indian In-dian scouts. He recommands that a post of four companies be established at the forks of Mussel Shell river, to be oceupit-d by mixed cavalry and infantry, in-fantry, with a view to the abandonment abandon-ment of camp Baker in Montana; also the establishment of another post near the head of navigation of the Yellow Stone, near .nouth of Big Horn. |
