Show Thunder, liihlulujj aud Hail. Loudon, 29. A dispatch frorh Buda, Pesth, to the Standard, aays a furious thunder storm passed over there to-day. Lightning was incessant, inces-sant, aud hail fell in such quantities that roils of houses and surrounding hills were covered two leet thick. The water fell in extraordinary tor-lents, tor-lents, and swept the streets of Buda, carrying vehicles and everything movable down. Many houses were suddenly flooded and destroyed bo- i fore the inmates could escape. Fiye hundred persons are missing, and at least one hundred were drowned or killed by the falling walls. A dispatch from Aden announces that the American consul at Zanzibar died on the 12th inst. |
