Show The Wisconsin Railroad. Chicago 16. A Milwaukee dispatch, dis-patch, speaking of the effect of the Supreme Court decision yesterday on the railroads, says it is noteworthy that there is a much more favorable feeling towards roads at present than has been experienced since the first railroad bill excited the people. The general verdict seems to be: "Now we have shown fhe roads we are sovereign, let us be magnanimous." There is a strong feeling that the new legislature should pass a law repealing repeal-ing the Potter act and restricting the roads to reasonable charges. Alexander Mitchell, President of the St. Paul road, and President Keep of the Northwestern, express their determination to fully comply with the law. Mr. Keep says Uiai his road will be obliged to curtail operations largely, to cut off some trains, make slower lime, withdraw their first-class coaches and reduce their working force to a minimum. |
