Show The New York Times has begun to write of President Grant as "Mr." Grant. The managing oditor of tbo Titties, aa Englishman by the name of Jennings, cannot get the reticent soldier either to apeak when he wanla him to. or to say what he would like to hear. The Times did think that it had become the Republican organ when Mr. Greeley became the Liberal Republican candidate for the Presidential Presi-dential chair, and no paper fought more valiantly for President Grant's re-election than tbo Times; but it now finds that the President cares very little for past services. The Times will break with him before the third-term campaign sure. |
