Show MINING SlOARr. Little Cottonwood, Heck ending Nnnh -A 1th, 1073. Alta City, March 24th, 1873. Editors Berald: The weather, during the past "week, has bo?n all that could be desired by the inhabitants of this mountainous region. It has been so warm, that it had a serious effect on the roads in the uanyor. The snow haj settled at least rive feet, and should this state of things oomioue another week, sleighs and rawhides will have to give placo to wat?ons. The .roads are good in the morning, but become almost impassable by twelve o'clock. Tho principal mines are producing as much aa ever before, and were it not for tho terrible state of the roads, would show a lartfer record of the shipment ship-ment of ores, than has over before been mado from Little Cottonwood. TUB EMMA. Has a large accumulation of ore at tho mine, ready fur transportation. Their shipments during the week, averaged about twonty-five tons per day, and not one hundred, as a correspondent corres-pondent of a city paper asserts. From the quantity of timber going into the mine, wo eonelude that they are putting put-ting the property into good shape, as far as timbering is ooncerncd. THE FLAG STAFF Mino has shippod about two hundred hun-dred tons or ore for the week. Thoy have a large amount of ore Backed at the mino, and their ore house, at the 1 foot of tho tramway, is crowded to re-1 plotion. THE VALLFJO Has a largo quantity of ore on hand, but has not shipped any during the week. The mino is working well, and the prospects aro, that it will not bo behind any of tho produoing mioos this ooming season. Tho now strike in THE WELLINGTON Continues to pan out a large supply of oro daily. Their shipments this week, havo only reached ten tons; but thoy have twonty-five hundred sacks of ore oorded up ia front of Clasby & Read's, which will be shipped to Sandy as soon as the roads and weather permit. The new reel, at the head of the tramway on TUE DAVENPOET, Has been completed, and works to a oharm; seventy-five tons of loose ore can bo sent down daily. This mine shipped one hundred tons of ore during dur-ing tho week. Tho mine has greatly improved in appearance, and oan produce, pro-duce, at least, one hundred tons of oro daily. THE GRIZZLY Has not been shipping ore this week, their tramway having either not been in running order, or else they havo olosed for repairs. It is not for laok of ore, as thoy havo plenty of it socked at the mine, and immense bodies of it io sight Work is to be reoommenocd, as soon as possiblo, on several mineB that have been oloscd down on aceount of the snow, among which oan be mentioned the Darliugton, Congresa, Highland Chief, Revolution and Topeka. The mcrchante of Alta, in view of the prosperous season in Btore for them, aro laying in large atooks of goods. They experience as much trouble in obtaining their supplies, as the mines do in securing transportation for their ores. Archibald. |
