Show Police Court. Thomas Fitzhugh and John Morrison were brought before be-fore his honor, judge Cliuton, for being engaged in a fisticuff encounter in a drinking saloon. The former was fined $15; and the latter, as chief in the quarrel and for general disturbance, had to contribute to the city coffers $25. ' James Langley, who some days ago was one among others arrested for breaking the peace at Mctz's saloon, appeared with his counsel, Messrs. Maxwell and McUurdy, to dispute the authority of judge Clinton in the pre- i mises, and the asm plaint was dismissed for want of necessary affidavits to substantiate sub-stantiate tho charge. Subsequently another complaint was mado by Mr. Metz for iDsulting and abusive language, lan-guage, and Langley was reorrestcd and placed in saf; keeping. f A test case under an act passed at the last sitting of tho legislature, entitled en-titled "An act to provide rules for the working and development of mines," was commenced beforo his honor late yesterday afternoon, and after a jury was empannclled and tho ease opened, the further hearing of it was adjourned until 11 o'clock this morning.
