Show Water ! Water ! ! For some time past a large portion of rhe 20th ward has been with nut atcr luir,. City creek, either for irrig mg or cuoliary purposes pur-poses ; and in some instances water has had to be hauled io wagons quite a distance dis-tance to use in building. The water was turned out of the ditch, on the supposition that irrigation on the bench was the cause of the springs bursting out on South Temple street, and it was considered, we believe, necessary ne-cessary to do this to save St. Mark's church from injury. Without reasoning reason-ing on the theory that the Epriogs were so caused, which we do not for a moment believe, the deprivation of a large number of people of the water should not be allowed to continue, and some other means ought to be adopted to preserve from damage buildings that might be so threatened. Mr. Lindsay, the ward water-master, says he has written to Alderman Groo, the city water-master, without a reply or relief to the ward; and, wondering if the matter had escaped the recollection of the latter gcDtleman through the mul-tiplicty mul-tiplicty of hid duties, we yesterday visited the City Hall twice, personally, desiring to see him and bring the subject sub-ject to his notice. IiaviDg failed to see him, the request is made thus publicly that the people be no loDger deprived of the water. |
