Show flOR.UO. EXiVLlSlVENESS. Editors Herald: A caso illusrative of tho "exclusive' ness of Mormon rule," has just come to my notico, and as "a rendition unto Caesar of the things that are Cresars," I mako it known to you. A young man, with wife and sister, came to our city last week for tbo purpose of finding employment em-ployment whereby he might bo enabled to support them. With abilitios and inclination, he applied to several prominent prom-inent houcos of his own sect and crocd, but without success. Somewhat disheartened dis-heartened at the coldness and selfish-neps selfish-neps displayed, ho expressed his desire to sec Brigham Young, but the general opinion expressed was, "Oh, no; don't go thoro; he only helps those of his own church, and you will only be snubbed snub-bed and turned away." -However, be did go, and saw Brigham Young, and he, disregarding the immensity of business bus-iness that claimed every moment of his limo devoted suthcient to hear tbi. man's story, and not only heard, but helped him; ho was neither "snubbed nor turned away," but when ho lelt, it was with a letter, which will obtain employment fur him, and in his hourt there was, and ever will be, irrespective irrespec-tive of sect, cried or religion, lha most lively feeling of gratitude for Brigham Young and every member ot his office. I write this, that others may know as I du, that working turn are ever wol- I come to Utah, and that exclusivcncs is not a part of Mormon rule. A. GCNTXLE. |
