Show The liiuKlnxu KsploMion. Mr. Morrill who was administering the vapor bath at the time of the late explosion, sends us the following further information as to that affair: Bingham, Sept. lo, lS7o. FAih.rs llrruhl : I wish to say a few words in reference ref-erence Ui that explosion, and to cor-reet cor-reet an erroneous statement to the effect that 1 was replenishing a lighted lamp at the time of the accident. acci-dent. Mr. Gould no doubt thought he was making a proper explanation of the affair, hut such was not the case, as the supply can was at that time in another part of the room, at least eight feet away. I was applying a match to relight the lamp it, having gone out from some unknown cause. I am satisfied there was no defect in the lamp, or any part of the apparatus, appa-ratus, and can only ascribe the exlin-' exlin-' guishment of the lamp to the vapors generated by the profuse perspiration of the patient, or by the fluid being of inferior quality, which believe to be the real reason and only cause of the accident. I would also like to say that 1 made the greatest exertions to liberate the patient in the bath (Mr. Williams), my face and hands being covered with the burning fluid the while; and I only reliiumished my ellbrts to help him, when 1 saw that bv exercise of the greatest strength he had buret the bath-bos and broken j through the window. I may add that i 1 am terribly burned and have had this written at my request and dieta-I dieta-I tion bv a friend. j " Chas. W. Mokimli., |
