Artistant district attorney Sulivan called upon the defendant de-fendant to plead to his indictment whereupon Graham, prisoner's counsel, coun-sel, called for tho reading of it and the court directed the clerk to read it. The big indictment is prioted in a volume of 1050 pages whioh will occupy, it is thought, at least two days in reading. A demurrer was made to the indictment indict-ment on which tho prosecution joined issue. The demurrer was then overruled over-ruled and the defendant called upon to plead. A plea of not guilty was then pot in and the trial set down' for the first Monday in January. |
