Show Theatrl. Last oight, the last of Mr. Liodfay's star engagement, there was a vury fair attendance at the Theatre. The tragedy of Othello was very well performed. We regard Mr. Lindsay's Othello aa better than ' his average playing for the week. It , gave evidences of lack of study, and 1 an indefiniieness of conception, which were also true of his other parts, but taken all in all under the circumstances it was a very creditable personation. We would have liked to have seen the noble Moor better dressed, he really looked very shabby. An actor should not play &tar parts in stock dresse?, badly worn and wretchedly put on. A man rray act never so well, but if he docs not look the part a great deal cf the effect of his acting is Io&L Mr. Bates appeared to very good advantage as the oily viillan Iago. Miss Walters as Kmelia was all that could be desired. fler acting was splendid. Mis3 Kent as Desde-mona Desde-mona gave a very creditable rendition of the loving but wronged wife of the Moor. Mr, Dudley's Cassio and Mr, Graham'a RndRri?o were both verv good. The other parts were well filled. To-morrow evening professor Bosco commences an engacement of two night?, appearing in a fine programme of ''Illusion and Spiritual Phenomena." Phenom-ena." "What the Press Says. Pittsburg "PosL" hlaviug bad occasion recently to visit Brattleburo', Vt , where the manufactories manufacto-ries uf J. .i;tey & Co., are situated, we took occasion to visit each of theui . To our surprG we found four largo buildings build-ings tilled with workmen, and saw the marvellous strides modern ekill and invention in-vention have made. We witnessed the working of one of the most perlect and complete systems of manufacture in the whole- country, where the lumber wnd raw material are taken in at one door, in building o. 1, paa.ing through in regular order, until they come out at building iNo- 4, a most beautiful musical instrument one which challenges ua-compromising ua-compromising trial and criticism. A more delicious combination of sweetness, sweet-ness, purity and power of tone can scarcely bo tfbnceived. Tho wonderful lo.t Humana Tremolo touches tho heart with almost human instinct. The lux Juiilante is a stop most effecting and enchanLing. The Hub Bass, Harmonic Attachment, and other improvements, aro scientifically arranged into one grand whole. We might continue, but iU truth is, tho iistey Organs sing their own praises far more eloquently than any words of ours. "Watchman and JAe Hector," Boston, Mass. |
