Show GENERAL. The Aew Yorlt Conventions. Syracuse, 4. The Liberal convention met at a p.m., but tho committees not beiu ready to report, recess was taken to 7 p.m. Syracuse, evening, 3. The Democratic Demo-cratic convention reassembled this evening, when tho conference committee commit-tee stated they were not ready to report on tho formation of a State ticket, but as to tho electoral ticket they recommend recom-mend that a committee of one from each congressional district be appointed, to moot a similar committee of the Liberals, Lib-erals, and select such ticket. A motion embodying the recommendation was adopted. The committee on permanent organization reported George AT. Bobea for president, with John Vox and one froiuom.Ldtnct f,.r vice presidents, and a dozen secretaries. Ihu rupurt was adopted. On taking the chair Bo-bee Bo-bee made a speech. After the selection of a conference committee on electoral ticket, tho convention adjourned until to-morrow morning, Tho Liberal convention met in thn evening, and tho conference committee made a similar report to that mado in the JJomocratic convention. Detroit, 4. -Tho prizo light tor tho light weight championship and $2,0Ut) between Arthur Chambers and Billy Kdwards, took place this morning on W alpool Island, St. Clair river, Canada about forty miles from this city, and lasted an hour and a half. During tho twenty-sixth round, Chambers threw Edwards upon the ropes and as Arthur's seconds picked him up, they claimed 'atoul," claiming that Edwards had bitten Chambers on tho shoulder. Tho refereo finding teeth marks on Chambers' Cham-bers' shoulder allowed tho claim and decided the tight in favor of Chambers much to tho dissatisfaction of the spectators, spec-tators, and against the protest of Edwards, Ed-wards, who cried bitterly and called God to witness ho never touched his opponent op-ponent with his teeth. The Democratic convention con-vention did not reassemble till 4 p.m. when the chairman announced tho committee com-mittee to notify the candidates of their nomination. A resolution providing tor the appointment of a national executive execu-tive committee, and looking to the organization or-ganization f Stale central committee and the calling of Stale conventions for tho nomination of electors, was adopted A resolution to instruct tho executive committee to fill any vacancy on the ticket caused by resignation or death created a prolonged discussion and was laid on tho tablo alter all Alter it was tabled the chairman announced an-nounced that ho had just received a despatch lroui Charles O'Conor, saying that ho could not accept. O'CoiroR, A question then arose as to the genuineness genu-ineness of the despatch, and doubts were frotly expressed, finally the president said he had every reason to believe the despatch was genuine, but, he said, "if it is a lorgery tho telegraph otiiee ought to be abolished, or torn down." It they thought it was a forgery, ho would advise that united energies shou.d be directed to put the telegraph down. He urged upon tho convention; tlio necessity, however, of staving here . till '.heir w,.rt was completed." Leddy, ot New ork, made a speech, insisting that no dcciinaiiun was possible, and that their nominee must run anvhow. Cries of ''let's havo a candidate." Burr here got th floor and moved that when the convention adjourn, it be till 9 to-morrow, and on this motion proceeded to make a long speech, urging urg-ing the absolute necesity of making" a new nomination. He said ho knew O Conor wouldn't accept; that he could not for private and personal reasons; and that he, Burr, knew what he could not disclose. He regarded O'Conor as ono of the most remarkable men in tho world, but ho was peculiar. Aloran, of Indiana, was opposed to the adjournment, and moved to nominate nomi-nate by acclamation j ud ge James Lvons, of "Virginia, the president of the "convention. "con-vention. The nomination was received with immense applause, and on Moran putting the motion, it was carried amid the wildest excitement. Mo ran then movea mat toe convention adjourn sine die, but Lyons bogged the iudulgence of i theconvention, and stated that while he felt impressed with tho action of tho convention, it was his duty to remind them that the motion of loran waa out of order, and that the aciion of the convention was under excitement and should not be allowed to pass. Tho question was then put on Burr's resolution, resolu-tion, which was adopted. Blanton Duncan said, "Now, in order that we shall be able to reflect upon this subject and do nothing hasty, I move that the bouse now adjourn." The motion mo-tion was agreed to, and tho convention at G o'clock adjourned till 10 o'clock tomorrow to-morrow morning. M lace Hansons. Widnseyorand Willard Bates, the latter a lad.
